अहिंसा परमो धर्मः धर्म हिंसा तदैव च ahiṁsā paramo dharmaḥ dharma hiṁsā tadaiva ca?
much is discussed on this question. But even though quotes dharma himsaa tadaiva cha, I am struggling to trace the sloka. Some quote it as from Mahabharatham but where is the second limb of the sloka? May be it is there inside the two lakhs lines but from the text I could manage to see, I could not trace this. It is true that the golden thread of the idea of protection of dharma at any cost runs throughout Mahabharatham and other major texts of India, and in gita the blessed lord has laughed away the conciliatory tone of Arjuna in the beginning chapters. If the sense of non violence comes from effeteness it is not to be considered positive. When a wild buffloe charges towards you and you profess ahimsa and chant holy names, it would be a folly. Ahimsa has nothing to do with fools.
