Iguana has mites how to make sure they dont come back?

My iguana has a few little red dots crawling on it which i figured out were mites, I was wondering if i clean the tank and pet, what are the chances it may come back, also my iguana was roaming the house a few days ago, is there any chance that if any mites are in the house that they are alive, or starved and/or havent breed?
