How to unlock lg kp500 cookie from optus?

bcs apparently i think we can only buy the mobile in optus (except from online stores which i dont prefer) so anyways i wanna use a virgin mobile sim. is there any way to change from optus to virgin mobile? im using an lg cookie in prepaid. oh and btw my phone is locked to optus :(
